Code ICE: Therapeutic Hypothermia Training for SCV ICU Nurses
Three-hour class for RNs who work in the Sharp Chula Vista ICU.

This training session is designed to teach Sharp Chula Vista ICU RNs how to treat patients who are receiving therapeutic hypothermia, which lowers body temperature following resuscitation from cardiac arrest.
During the class, the instructor will:
- Describe pathophysiology associated with cardiac arrest
- Review indications and mechanism of action of therapeutic hypothermia and the mediated neuroprotection of mild to moderate hypothermia
- Recognize the three phases of therapeutic hypothermia and its possible complications
- Discuss nursing roles and management of Arctic Sun
- Review the SHC therapeutic hypothermia policy, including order set
- Discuss necessary documentation required when caring for patient on therapeutic hypothermia
