Join local artist Kirstin Green for a free two-hour community art forum sponsored by Sharp Coronado Hospital. Participants will create visual art pieces that will be used as Green's inspiration for an 89-square-foot mosaic mural that will be on permanent display in the hospital's Healing Garden starting this summer.
No previous art experience is required and light refreshments will be served. We ask that you register for only one of the five sessions.
If you need to cancel your registration for this event,
please call 1-800-827-4277 Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, or log in to your account to cancel online.
Free parking is available in front of the hospital. Valet parking is available at the main hospital entrance on Prospect Place, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 5 pm. Free validation is provided to patients and visitors arriving at the hospital for emergency services, surgery, lab tests, rehabilitation therapy and other hospital needs.
Please note that no single art piece created by community members will be chosen for the design of the Healing Garden mural. Rather, the artist will use them as inspiration to understand common imagery, patterns and other design elements that will contribute to a healing feeling in the final design.
Attendees will be asked to leave their art pieces and may pick them up later this summer when the mural is unveiled.
Kirstin Green has been working as a mosaic artist in her hometown of Coronado for nearly two decades. Green is currently enrolled in the Expressive Arts Institute and is pursuing a master's degree in expressive arts therapy.
You will spend the first hour creating your visual art piece based on what you think healing looks like as your inspiration. In the second hour, there will be an opportunity to share your story of healing, grief, loss or other experiences that inspired your artwork.
Please bring an apron, smock or old T-shirt as you will be working with paints.
