Presented by Sharp HealthCare plus

Doors of Change, also known as Photocharity, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has been helping save homeless youth in San Diego since July 2001. During this time, it has worked in partnership with San Diego Youth Services’ Storefront shelter to place more than 1,800 homeless youth ages 12 to 17 in long-term safe housing.

Doors of Change operates several programs to help youth overcome homelessness, including weekly outreach walks, weekly music and art programs to build trust and teach useful skills and a long-term, comprehensive self-sufficiency program.

Sharp volunteers are needed to assist with sorting clothing and hygiene products, making sandwiches for the youth “Next Meal Bags” and cleaning up after the music and art program.

If this event is full, please call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277), Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, and asked to be placed on our waitlist.

Cancellation Policy plus

If you need to cancel your registration for this event, please call 1-800-827-4277 Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, or log in to your account to cancel online.

There is plenty of parking available on the side of the building.

Special Instructions plus

Sharp HealthCare encourages our team members to bring their families to our volunteer events whenever possible. Due to safety reasons, children under the age of 12 may not volunteer for this event. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please account for and include the names of all guests during the registration process. To accomplish this online, please add as many guests as you will have to your registration basket before checkout.

Arrival plus

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time to allow plenty of time to park and check in.

What to Bring plus

Dress comfortably, wear your Sharp Lends a Hand T-shirt and closed-toe shoes. Please leave purses, jewelry and other valuables at home. Sharp HealthCare and Doors of Change will not be responsible for any missing personal belongings.

Feel free to bring your own snacks and refreshments.

How do I obtain a Sharp Lends a Hand T-shirt?
The Sharp Lends a Hand T-shirts are not event-specific, so if you have volunteered in a past event, you don't need to obtain another T-shirt. If you are volunteering for the first time, you may pick up your T-shirt at Spectrum by going to the second floor and following the signs to the T-shirt location. We have sizes ranging from child medium to adult XXXL.

The Spectrum building is open from 6 am to 6 pm and you must have your Sharp ID for access into the building. If you cannot come to Spectrum, please arrange to have a Sharp employee pick one up for you. Unfortunately, we cannot interoffice mail the shirts.
