The Cushman Wellness Center offers a free monthly integrative medicine seminar for Sharp employees and members of the community. While topics may vary, all of these hourlong presentations center around the integration of conventional Western medicine and integrative nonmedical therapies or treatments.
Water and light snacks will be provided. Registration is not required to attend.

Friday, Sept. 13 - Osteoporosis Prevention and a Natural Approach to Treatment
Dr. Emma Norton holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of New Hampshire and a doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport College, where she was a supervisor in a teaching clinic for 10 years overseeing general naturopathic medicine, geriatrics, women’s health and community health. She is currently an associate clinical dean and assistant professor at Bastyr University Clinic in Sorrento Valley.
In this educational forum, participants will:
- Explore why “food as medicine” is optimal in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis
- Learn what exercises are best for both prevention and treatment of osteopenia/osteoporosis
- Identify what vitamins and minerals are necessary for maintenance of bone health
Please plan to arrive at least five to 10 minutes before the start time of the session.
