This interactive event is designed to introduce seniors and caregivers to the benefits of music therapy. Board-certified music therapists from MusicWorks will facilitate interactive music making, drumming, and movement to promote physical and social wellness. Attendees will participate in the following areas:
Movement with music
Active movement and stretching to music to improve circulation, gross motor coordination, mood and improve/maintain balance for fall prevention
Improve breath control/support, circulation and promote relaxation
Improve respiratory health, social interaction, socio-emotional wellness and cognitive health
Active music making
Rhythmic activities with instrumental play and body percussion to improve cognitive functioning, gross-motor coordination, mood and improve/maintain balance for fall prevention

10-10:30 am: Registration and meet and visit with community partners (back patio area)
10:30-10:45 am: Welcome and introduction to program and resources
10:45 am-12:15 pm: Interactive music therapy led by MusicWorkx
12:15-12:30 pm: Recognize sponsors and participating SoCAN members and community partners
12:30-1 pm: Opportunity drawings, boxed lunch distribution and final visit with community partners

Please bring a water bottle, face covering and wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can easily move in. All musical instruments and other event materials will be provided.
