This interactive event is designed to introduce seniors to the benefits of music therapy. Led by board-certified music therapists from MusicWorks, attendees will participate in the following areas:
Movement with music
Active movement and stretching to music to improve circulation, gross motor coordination, mood and improve/maintain balance for fall prevention
Improve breath control/support, circulation and promote relaxation
Improve respiratory health, social interaction, socio-emotional wellness and cognitive health
Active music making
Rhythmic activities with instrumental play and body percussion to improve cognitive functioning, gross-motor coordination, mood and improve/maintain balance for fall prevention

11-11:15 am: Welcome and program introduction
11:15 am-12:15 pm: Interactive music therapy event led by MusicWorkx
12:15-12:45 pm: Recognize sponsors and meet community partners
12:45-1 pm: Opportunity drawings and boxed lunch distribution

If you need to take public transportation to the event, the closest bus routes are No. 701 (drops off in front of the senior center) and No. 929 (drops off on the corner of Third Avenue and F Street).
Please bring a face covering and wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can easily move in. All musical instruments and other event materials will be provided.
