This three-hour course is mandatory for all Sharp Memorial ICU registered nurses who are competent with slow low-efficiency daily dialysis (SLEDD). It will teach you how to use a new continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) machine — the NxStage System One. The class includes a didactic approach on the components of the new system, as well as troubleshooting techniques and hands-on skills practice.
At this class, we will:
- Discuss the differences between SLEDD, continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH), continuous veno-venous hemodialysis (CVVHD) and slow continuous ultrafiltration (SCUF).
- Review alarms and troubleshooting of the NXStage machine.
- Demonstrate safe use of the NXStage machine, including setting flow rates, measuring pressures, volumes, etc.
