As a phlebotomist, you face many challenges in performing your job. Pediatric draws are among the most challenging situations you may encounter.
In this session, we will review techniques for pediatric heelsticks, fingersticks and venipunctures. We will also discuss suggestions for reducing anxiety in pediatric patients.
At the conclusion of this program, you will be able to:
- Implement strategies for successfully obtaining optimal blood samples from pediatric patients
- Evaluate equipment selections for pediatric draws
- Describe strategies to reduce patient anxiety and increase customer satisfaction
