Are you feeling irritable, anxious or overwhelmed? Are you crying frequently? Do you need support and are unable to find it? Do you have a history of anxiety and/or depression?
If you answered "yes" to one or more of the questions above, you are not alone. Postpartum mood disorders affect up to 20 percent of new mothers and are very treatable. Join our free support group for new mothers to share experiences and get support.
The group offers education and support for women suffering "baby blues" symptoms, postpartum depression and/or anxiety. Babies newborn to 12 months are welcome to attend.
Topics addressed may include:
- Feelings of isolation
- How to seek support
- Issues related to postpartum mood disorders
- Parenting struggles
- Professional referrals
- Suggestions on how to cope
- What have others done
Registration is not required prior to attending. This support group is for participants only. Student observation is not permitted.

This support group is led by licensed clinical social worker Veronica James. James has a master's degree in social work and more than 17 years of experience working with the obstetric and postpartum population.
Parking is available in the structure on Health Center Drive. Parking fees may apply.
Sharp Grossmont Hospital
This group meets every Monday from 9 to 10 am, excluding holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 20).
Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns
This group meets every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 am. There will be no group meeting on major holidays.
Please note that all visitors to the Sharp Grossmont Hospital Women's Health Center age 18 and older are now required to present a government-issued photo ID upon arrival.
