Stand Down Volunteer Sessions
Sharp Lends a Hand invites you to join us at Stand Down, one of our flagship volunteer efforts. This event for San Diego’s homeless veterans has been a huge success over the last several years, thanks in part to Sharp volunteers.
Sponsored by the Veterans Village of San Diego, Stand Down provides community-based social services for veterans who are without a permanent residence. More than 1,000 people will be given a place to sleep and shower, legal and social services, clothing and medical care over a three-day period.
Sharp Lends a Hand volunteers are needed to staff a variety of positions to make this event possible, including:
- Clothing drive (ages 14 and older) — June 9
- Presort donated clothing (ages 14 and older) — June 16, 17, 23 or 24
- Set up the clothing tent (ages 18 and older) — July 19 or 20
- Work in the clothing tent (ages 18 and older) — July 21, 22 or 23
- Staff the medical tent
(LVNs, MDs, RNs or podiatry techs only) — July 21, 22 or 23
- Staff the pharmacy tent
(pharmacists or pharmacy techs only) — July 21, 22 or 23
