San Diego’s only hospital dedicated to women and newborns has reached a special milestone.
Cara Jayne Boda became the 200,000th baby to be born at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns. This landmark is especially significant for the hospital as it is also celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2017.
Cara’s much-anticipated arrival happened on May 19, at 6:40 am, and was celebrated with a special presentation from the hospital’s CEO, Trisha Khaleghi.
“Every birth is special,” says Khaleghi, “but this really is a wonderful milestone.”
Cara’s parents, Catherine and Corey Boda, received a one-of-a-kind commemorative certificate, personalized baby gifts and a mini shopping spree at the New Beginnings Boutique.
When hospital staff shared the exciting news with the Boda family that their baby was the hospital’s 200,000th, it came as an unexpected surprise.
“We were shocked,” says mom, Catherine. “We had been following the delivery count on the hospital’s Facebook page and thought maybe there was a chance, but we really didn’t think it would happen.”
Catherine adds that they have loved every moment of their experience — their second time delivering a baby at Sharp Mary Birch.
“It’s amazing. I came in the night before expecting to have a baby, but I didn’t ever expect anything like this.”
