Surviving a stroke — and minimizing its effects — largely depends on how quickly treatment is delivered. According to Dr. Ran Regev, an emergency medicine doctor at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, "Treatment of a stroke needs to begin within 45 minutes of arrival to the emergency room."
Unfortunately, many people fail to recognize when a stroke is happening. But by memorizing the word "FAST" — Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty and Time to call 911 — you could change the outcome for someone experiencing this emergency.
