When it comes to sunscreen, there's a lot to know. How often should you reapply? What SPF is best? And why is it all important? Dr. Mona Mofid, a Sharp-affiliated dermatologist affiliated with Sharp Grossmont Hospital, shares four sunscreen tips to keep you safe outdoors.

According to Dr. Mona Mofid, a dermatologist affiliated with Sharp HealthCare, having the right sun protection is incredibly important, because one person dies every hour in this country from skin cancer. Dr. Mofid shares four sunscreen tips to stay safe in the sun: SPF – Use sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Broad spectrum – Choose a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. Application – Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before sun exposure, and every two hours after. Water resistant – Look for this feature if exercising or swimming.
