Recovering from a stroke, injury or other incident that affects a patient’s mobility and strength can be daunting enough on its own, as they work with rehab staff to mend physical impairments and damage.
There’s also the challenge of easing back into everyday life. Simple tasks such as going to the grocery store or getting on a bus can be much more complicated than before.
To help patients face these challenges, Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s rehab team offers the Community Reintegration Program. These community outings are tailored to patients’ own interests, and simultaneously provide the type of therapy they need to get back on their feet. Getting out and about not only motivates patients to strengthen their bodies, but also provides cognitive and social benefits necessary for recovering and healing the mind as well.
And sometimes, you might even get to play the drums. Watch the video above to learn more.
