On a recent sunny morning, with the mountain summits of Mission Trails Regional Park providing a beautiful backdrop, leaders of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers officially broke ground on its newest medical center in Santee.
The new location is scheduled to open in summer 2020. It will be at 8701 Cuyamaca Street, at the corner of Cuyamaca Street and Buena Vista Avenue, immediately adjacent to State Route 52, providing excellent access for the region's growing population.
The Santee medical center will allow Sharp Rees-Stealy to expand many of the services it offers those who live and work in Santee, El Cajon, Lakeside and East San Diego County.
The medical center will be a three-story, 86,000-square-foot building, offering primary care, pediatrics, OBGYN, lab services, pharmacy, radiology, urgent care, an optical shop and a large fitness room for physical therapy.
The new clinic will also include a solar panel system, electric car chargers, original artwork, drought-tolerant landscaping and a surface parking lot with free parking.
"We're proud to bring a beautiful, new medical center to East County residents where we will provide all the care they need under one roof," says Stacey Hrountas, CEO of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers.
Sharp Rees-Stealy leaders were joined for the ceremonial groundbreaking by leaders of Sharp HealthCare, including President and CEO Chris Howard, Sharp Rees-Stealy board and steering committee members, and community leaders, including John Minto, mayor of Santee, and Dianne Jacob, chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
