An organization doesn’t strive to become the best health care system in the universe with a strategy of hope. It takes concerted work and dedication from people committed to making health care better. At Sharp HealthCare, a thoughtful recognition process helps to reinspire and recognize the many team members who go above and beyond.
“It’s such a pleasure to recognize and honor the people of Sharp, who are working each and every day to transform the health care experience for each other and those we serve,” says Mike Murphy, president and CEO of Sharp HealthCare. “Each year, we have the inspiring responsibility to select the most deserving among the thousands of hard-working people at Sharp, and present them with our organization’s most prestigious recognition: the Pillars of Excellence Awards.”
The Pillars of Excellence form the foundation for Sharp’s vision to transform the health care experience, and they serve as a visible testament to Sharp’s commitment to become the best health care system in the universe by achieving excellence in these areas. The Awards celebrate individuals, teams and departments across the organization’s seven Pillars of Excellence: Quality, Safety, Service, People, Finance, Growth and Community.
“At Sharp, we believe that not one area, or Pillar, is more important than any of the others,” says Murphy. “We believe it is important to recognize the people who contribute through talent and innovation that furthers our organization. We wouldn’t be the organization we are today if not for people doing great work under each of these Pillars of Excellence.”
C.O.R.E. and Pillar Awards
“Naming our Pillars of Excellence Award recipients is a multi-step process,” explains Lynn Skoczelas, chief experience officer. “Each year, it begins with Sharp hospitals, medical centers and administrative offices recognizing their employees for their work and contributions. We call these the Center of Recognized Excellence, or C.O.R.E., Awards. As a large organization, we know that incredible work is being done across the entire organization, and the C.O.R.E. Awards process allows us to recognize and showcase the innovative work that’s being done to transform the health care experience and make a difference in the lives of others,” explains Skoczelas.
Nominations from the C.O.R.E. Awards are then considered for the distinguished Pillars of Excellence Awards, which honors individuals, teams and departments whose contributions have made the biggest impact on Sharp and those we serve.
