The first new hospital in more than 40 years is coming to the South Bay. By the end of 2019, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center will unveil a new seven-story tower — leading the way in advanced medicine.

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center has been caring for a fast-growing community for more than 70 years. The highest patient occupancy of any hospital in San Diego County. A 24-hour emergency department, with more than 70,000 annual visits. The groundwork. Since the groundbreaking in 2016, construction on the new hospital has been monumental. 197,000 square feet. 4 million pounds of structural steel. 1,500 construction jobs. The features. The new hospital will offer expansive ocean and mountain views, state-of-the-art technology, and nearly 100 unique patient safety features. Patients and their families can expect: All private patient rooms. 10 intensive care suites. 6 advanced operating rooms. 718-space parking garage. 7 stories. 1 rooftop cafe with ocean view. The impact. When the hospital opens, Sharp will have invested $300 million since 2012 to meet the health care needs of San Diego's growing South Bay community.
