Osteoporosis Prevention and Women's Bone Health Seminar
This seminar provides participants with information on osteoporosis, a disease that thins and weakens the bones and leads to related fractures in half of all women.
Dr. Joel Smith, a Sharp Grossmont-affiliated and board-certified orthopedic surgeon, will address the risk factors for osteoporosis, such as age, diet and lifestyle and family history. He will also review treatments for the disease, including the advanced technology used, and how physical activity can help maintain bone health.
In addition, registered dietitian Ursula Ridens will speak about improving bone health through diet and the importance of integrating specific nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D throughout the aging process.
Both speakers will be available to answer any questions you might have after their presentations.
A healthy, light continental breakfast will be provided to all of those in attendance.
