PCU Certification Review Class for Sharp Memorial RNs
This course is for progressive care unit nurses who are preparing for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) certification examination.
This two-day review focuses on core concepts that are defined by the ACCN as essential for caring for adult patients. It is intended as a comprehensive update for professional nurses already practicing in direct patient care.
The instructors will review anatomy and physiology, physical assessments and pathophysiology. They will utilize case studies and also review AACN practice questions.
At the completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate cardiac, pulmonary, neurologic, renal, hematological, endocrine and gastrointestinal pathophysiology
- Identify evidence-based core measure criteria to optimize patient outcomes as recommended by The Joint Commission and Department of Health Services
- Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiopulmonary emergencies and initiation of standardized interventions to stabilize the patient
