This two-part course is designed for nurses and respiratory care practitioners.
Part I: 8 – 9:30 am
Part I includes Cerner training on advanced preceptor documentation. Participants will be directed to a computer training lab for a self-paced Cerner documentation module with the overall goal to precept using standardized documentation.
Areas that are exempt from attending Part I, include nurses working in the Emergency Department, Surgical Services (OR, PACU, Pre-op), Sharp Rees-Stealy, Sharp Home Care, Case Management and Utilization Review. All other RNs should attend Parts I & II.
Part II: 9:45 am – 4:30 pm
Part II includes didactic classroom learning on precepting and is designed for the nurse who is new in the role of precepting. The instructors will review the essential components of role modeling, educating, facilitating and evaluating the progress of a unit-based preceptor program. Utilizing common precepting scenarios and situations, both large and small workshop group discussion will also be incorporated.

Free visitor parking is available from the lot entrance on Spectrum Center Boulevard. Employee parking is available in the front, back and side of the Spectrum building. The four entrances on Tech Way require an activated employee badge.
Please arrive by 9:30 am if you are only attending part II of the class.
Ear buds will be supplied at class, but you may also elect to bring your own ear buds or headphones. Remember to bring your RN license number to the class to receive your CEU credit.
This course is provider-approved by the California Board of Nursing (Provider No. 70) for 7.0 contact hours. For those attending only part II, there will be 5.0 contact hours awarded.
