AVADE Level I Online With In-Person Level II and III Training

This course is for Sharp Emergency Department employees who have taken an AVADE or CPI class in the past.
This hybrid class is designed to provide training to help you prevent violence in the workplace via a program known as AVADE (awareness, vigilance, avoidance, defense, escape/environment). Students will receive training in self-defense and defensive control tactics.
After you enroll, you will receive an email notification the next business day from the Sharp Learning Center to start your online learning. This email will come from hs-alerts@healthstream.com. If you cannot find this email and are not using a Sharp HealthCare email account, please check your junk and trash folders before contacting us.
You must finish the AVADE Universal Precautions for Workplace Violence Prevention modules in the Sharp Learning Center and present your completion certificate at the in-person portion of this class.
Registration is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted. If you do not receive an email confirming your enrollment, please call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277), Monday through Friday, from 7 am to 7 pm.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel your registration for this event, please call 1-800-827-4277 Monday through Friday, 7 am to 7 pm, or log in to your account to cancel online.
Parking Information
Parking for the Sharp Corporate Office is available in front of the building. Please enter the west parking lot via Gate 2 from Tech Way off Kearny Villa Road. A parking permit is not required.
After parking, you can enter the Sharp Corporate Office through the main entrance in the front of the building. Please make sure to arrive early to get to class on time.
Please note that due to ongoing construction, parking and arrival information is subject to change.
Fee Information
Sharp employees are subject to a $25 payroll deduction if they do not attend or if they cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours prior to the start time of the class.
Traveling nurses currently on assignment with Sharp must register by phone. Please call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277) and provide the agent with your Lawson number to enroll.
Special Instructions
Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified by phone two days before the class and will have the opportunity to attend another date.
Arrival
Participants who arrive more than five minutes after the class start time will be asked to reschedule.
What to Bring
- Students must present the instructor with a completion certificate (hard copy or digital) from the AVADE Universal Precautions for Workplace Violence Prevention online modules in the Sharp Learning Center
- It is mandatory that you bring a face covering to class. Please wear scrubs or comfortable clothing. You will be asked to perform self-defense movements
- A break will be provided. Please plan to bring your own food and beverages
- If your class is at the Sharp Corporate Office (Spectrum), please make sure to bring your Sharp ID badge
Course Recommendations
In order to enroll, you must have taken an AVADE or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) class previously.
CEUs
This course is provider-approved by the California Board of Nursing (Provider No. 70) for 4.5 contact hours.
