Phlebotomy Seminar: Infection Control and Personal Safety
This three-hour class for phlebotomists will cover infection control, safety and personal wellness. Having a thorough knowledge of these areas is necessary to protect yourself, coworkers, patients and others from infection or injury and enables you to react quickly and skillfully in emergencies.
At the conclusion of this program, you will be able to:
- Identify key elements of the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act
- Explain the STAR acronym as it pertains to needlestick prevention and personal safety
- Describe the role of the phlebotomist in preventing blood and body fluid exposures
- Discuss the possible consequences of an accidental needlestick
Please note that all registrants must possess one of the following California licenses: CPT, MLT or CLS.
