Finding a primary care doctor shouldn't be a bumpy ride. But there are so many things to consider, like gender preference, insurance and location. With these simple 5 steps, skip the roadblocks and find the doctor that's right for you.

Your road map for choosing a doctor (infographic). Your road map for choosing a doctor. A primary care doctor serves as your wellness and health partner and coordinates your routine and specialty care. This includes everything from routine physicals to treating illnesses, ordering tests and, if you need it, referring you to specialists. There are several types of primary care doctors. A family medicine doctor provides care for people of all ages. An internal medicine doctor provides care for adults. A pediatrics doctor provides care for children and adolescents. An internal medicine/pediatrics doctor is double board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics and provides care for people of all ages. There are five things to consider when choosing a doctor: 1. Location – Do you want a doctor close to your home or work? 2. Insurance – Make sure your plan includes Sharp. 3. Gender – Do you prefer a female or male doctor? 4. Language – Choose a doctor who speaks your language. 5. Healing approach – Consider appointment options and communication preferences.
