Hospital Clinical Nutrition Services
Delivering evidence-based nutrition to hospital patients.
At Sharp, we understand that proper nutrition plays an important role in the healing process. Our registered dietitian nutritionists are food and nutrition experts and are here to ensure you receive the right type of nutrition while you are in the hospital — supporting the healing process and helping you to recover.
Care while in the hospital.
Our dietitians don't typically work with every patient, and instead rely on screening processes and referrals from doctors and hospital staff to identify patients at nutritional risk. If you fall into this category, a dietitian will make recommendations to your physician about your nutrition plan of care. Some patients may be able to consume an oral diet, while others may need nutrition support — such as tube feeding or nutrition infused through the veins.
If you follow a special diet at home and become hospitalized, notify your doctor, nurse or dietitian upon admission.
Support after you return home.
Occasionally, you may leave the hospital with a special diet or some form of nutrition support. In that instance, your dietitian may educate you and your caregivers and answer any questions.
We'll help find the doctor who's right for you.
