Cortrak 2 EAS Super User Training
This training session is designed to teach Sharp Chula Vista critical care RNs how to insert a nasoenteral feeding tube using the Cortrak 2 EAS, an electromagnetic guidance system that tracks the path of the feeding tube during placement.
At the end of the class, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the benefits of early enteral nutrition for the critically ill, including indications for post-pyloric placement
- State the risks associated with placement errors during insertion of small-bore feeding tubes
- Outline the step-by-step procedure during insertion of the small-bore feeding tube using an electromagnetic guidance system
- Identify ways to properly care for and maintain small–bore feeding tubes to prevent complications
