Phlebotomy Seminar: Strategies for Difficult Phlebotomy Draws
Phlebotomists are confronted with challenging situations when collecting blood specimens every day. These challenges include phlebotomy draws on geriatric, pediatric, obese, cognitively impaired and critically ill patients.
At this educational session, we will discuss successful strategies for collecting blood specimens in a wide variety of difficult settings.
At the conclusion of this program, you will be able to:
- Implement strategies for obtaining blood samples when venous access is limited
- Discuss methods for overcoming phlebotomy challenges in a variety of situations
- Evaluate best equipment selections for difficult draws
- Describe strategies to reduce anxiety in pediatric patients
Please note that all registrants must possess one of the following California licenses: CPT, MLT or CLS.
