Mike Bachman, Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers
As an access manager, Mike led the development and deployment of several new service lines, including telemedicine video visits, centralized electronic referral management in 12 specialties, expanded use of patient self-service online scheduling and deployment of a system that allows clinicians to use mobile devices to capture patient clinical images. As a result of his efforts, telemedicine video visits have increased from 8 to 225 visits per month and patient self-service online scheduling has increased 26 percent.

Child & Adolescent Outpatient Services, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital
This team provides intensive services to children, teenagers and their families struggling with significant emotional or behavioral challenges. Recognizing the need to enhance access to care for this vulnerable population, the team streamlined and expedited their assessment and admission processes. They redistributed staffing responsibilities, created shared appointment calendars and electronic huddle boards and set goals related to average daily census. As a result, each of the four outpatient programs has increased the number of patients served by 30 percent.

Global Patient Services, Sharp HealthCare — System Services
This department coordinates patient transfers and evacuations from around the world to a Sharp HealthCare hospital. By working closely with travel insurance and assistance companies, cruise lines, government agencies and other organizations, the department is able to manage all facets of medical needs, including emergency or trauma cases around the globe. Their tireless efforts to connect patients with the care they need has increased net revenue by $3.7 million.
