Nancy Jackson, Sharp Grossmont Hospital
As a veteran, Nancy helped start Sharp HospiceCare’s We Honor Veterans Program. Over the past year, Nancy has conducted individual, community and Veterans Day flag ceremonies, providing the opportunity for families to honor their loved one and their service to our country. Dressing in uniform, Nancy prepares the bedside with flags and memorabilia, even providing certificates and pins for other family members who have served in the U.S. armed forces.
TelePET, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital
Sharp Mesa Vista’s psychiatric evaluation team assesses patients for all Sharp acute-care hospitals. To better meet the needs of patients requiring a psychiatric evaluation and to decrease travel time between facilities, this workgroup implemented telemedicine technology, piloting the TelePET program at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center's Emergency Department. Since implementation, the average response time has decreased by 50 percent, improving the care experience for our patients, physicians and team members.
Business Development, Sharp Health Plan
In 2017, the federal government stopped funding cost-sharing for low-income qualifying individuals in Covered California, potentially affecting their Silver tier members and increasing premiums up to 44 percent. The department developed an outreach campaign delivering high-touch, personalized service to members and brokers. They made 9,000 calls, recruited broker-partners, sent mailings, published online resources and hosted over 50 community events. As a result of their focus on members’ needs and personalized service, the department retained 90 percent of their members.
