About Sahana Malik, MD

I became a physician because I am deeply committed to advancing social justice by providing equitable healthcare to underserved communities, where access to quality care can often be limited. I believe in the power of medicine not just to heal, but to address systemic disparities and advocate for those whose voices are often marginalized. I am a general adult psychiatrist. I work with patients of all different backgrounds with the aim of helping people to improve their quality of life and achieve their future goals. I take a holistic and culturally sensitive approach to care. I treat people who have mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. I also specialize in reproductive mental health, treating those who are pregnant or postpartum. At your initial appointment, I strive to get to know you and your lifestyle. I will ask questions about not only your mental health, but also your relationships with others, your hobbies, your childhood, and what you think would help you have a fulfilling life. We will together, as a team, come up with a treatment plan that works for you. I provide medication management, in addition to therapy services. In my spare time, I take dance classes. Dancing has always been a way for me to express myself, while also building connections with others through shared rhythm and movement.
