Bloodless Medicine and Surgery in Chula Vista
Bloodless surgery — on your terms.
When it comes to having surgery, your comfort and peace of mind are essential. We understand and respect your choice to avoid the use of blood transfusions during your surgical procedures.
At Sharp Chula Vista, our bloodless medicine and surgery team includes experts in patient blood management, so you can be sure that you and your loved ones are receiving excellent care.
You are in the best of hands.
Our Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Center is the only one of its kind in San Diego County. Led by our medical director, Dr. Hugo Barrera, our surgeons have successfully performed open-heart surgery, joint replacement surgery and other complex bloodless procedures without the use of donor blood. We also perform a number of leading-edge procedures, such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), which can significantly reduce blood loss.
Here, you will receive assistance and support before and after surgery from our bloodless center manager, who has extensive experience supporting patients who have chosen bloodless medical care.
Our entire bloodless team — including specially trained nurses, social workers and pastoral counselors — is committed to your personal needs and health concerns. We take pride in your trust and are dedicated to providing a health care experience that works for you.
