Amy Sharpe, Sharp Memorial Hospital
Amy networked with local health care systems and shared evidence-based practices for establishing policies and education to identify and support victims of human trafficking. Through her outreach, she provided resources to support clinicians throughout San Diego and helped other California communities organize local networks to address this issue. As a result of her energy and tenacious application of her expertise, she has contributed to education on a local, national and international level.
Entercom Partnership to Reduce Mental Health Stigma, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital
After an inappropriate message about suicide by an Entercom radio personality, the team partnered with the communications company to create a comprehensive awareness campaign focused on reducing mental health stigma in San Diego County. This innovative and successful partnership resulted in more than 1,200, no-cost public service announcements about mental health on Entercom radio stations, a web resource page and radio interviews with experts from Sharp Mesa Vista. The campaign generated more than 10 million listener impressions.
Alzheimer's Response Community Relations, Sharp Grossmont Hospital
This department partnered with the County of San Diego, Grossmont Healthcare District and Alzheimer’s San Diego to launch the Alzheimer’s Response Team. Composed of first responders, social workers and clinicians, this team is specially trained to work with people facing a dementia-related crisis and provides an alternate to emergency services. This new path to effectively and compassionately care for dementia patients has reduced hospital admissions and readmissions for Alzheimer’s patients, demonstrating Sharp Grossmont’s commitment to the East County community.
