Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center is in Chula Vista, California. Our emergency room is a convenient option for those living in, working in and visiting Chula Vista, Bonita, Eastlake, National City, Otay Ranch and surrounding South Bay communities of San Diego.
Our emergency team includes highly trained doctors, nurses, social workers and other support staff committed to helping you along the road to recovery.
We provide emergency care for patients of all ages and we are accredited by the American College of Emergency Physicians for specialized care for older adults.

Call 911 or visit the closest emergency room if you are experiencing a medical emergency, including:

Confusion or difficulty speaking
Fever with stiff neck
Fracture (with bone protruding)

Moderate to severe shortness of breath
Severe abdominal pain
Sudden dizziness or change in vision
Uncontrolled bleeding

We do not offer emergency room reservations. However, using our "On my way" feature, you can provide preliminary check-in details and alert us you're coming. This helps minimize your check-in time and prepares our team for your arrival.
Click the "I'm on my way" button near the top of this page before you visit the emergency room. After choosing an estimated arrival time, you'll submit a form detailing your information and symptoms.
We do our best to expedite check-in, but wait times may increase when patients with more life-threatening conditions must be treated first.
Yes, Sharp Chula Vista has an on-site outpatient pharmacy, offering convenient pickup of prescribed medications without the need for an additional stop after leaving the hospital. The outpatient pharmacy is located in the emergency room lobby. Talk to your care team for more information.

What to expect when you arrive
The Sharp Chula Vista Emergency Room provides trusted emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, combining a comfortable environment with compassionate, expert care when it matters most.
Patients may be dropped off at the emergency room entrance or park in the garage located in front. Parking at Sharp Chula Vista is free.

If you have children with you, the lobby includes an activity table and sensory toys. Coloring books are also available upon request.
Our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), located inside the emergency room, offers a dedicated space for patients experiencing a behavioral health emergency.
