Sharp’s highly trained optometrists and ophthalmologists offer eye care services at several Sharp locations. 

At Sharp Coronado Hospital, we offer a variety of eye care services and treatments.

At Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Centers, we offer a range of services from comprehensive eye exams to state-of-the-art eye care and laser outpatient surgery. Services and treatment include outpatient medical and surgical eye care, low-vision services, optometry services, optical shops and contact lens services. 

There are two simple ways to find the right eye doctor for you: 

• Search online for an optometrist or ophthalmologist with our quick, easy-to-use Find a Doctor tool. 

• Call 1-800-82-SHARP (1-800-827-4277), Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, to speak with one of our specially trained physician referral specialists. They know our doctors and can help you find the perfect fit.

In some cases, you will need a referral from your primary care doctor.  

Some medical groups offer direct access to certain types of specialists. And some health plans, such as PPOs, offer direct access to all specialists. Contact your health plan's member services department to confirm your coverage. 

If you are an existing patient with a Sharp-affiliated optometrist or ophthalmologist (meaning you have seen your doctor at least once), simply call the doctor’s office to make an appointment.

Sharp accepts almost all health insurance plans, including Medicare, Medi-Cal and most managed care and private insurance plans. Be sure to check with your insurance company to verify specific coverage. Insurance companies frequently add new plans, and update provider networks and covered services under existing plans.

For Sharp Rees-Stealy patients, our covered in-network insurance plans include:

Sharp offers appointments with our affiliated optometrists and ophthalmologists. Each can play a pivotal role in your routine and specialized eye care. 

Optometrists are specialists who examine, diagnose and treat your eyes. They are licensed to practice optometry and will see you to perform eye examinations and vision tests, prescribe glasses and contact lenses and can prescribe medications for certain eye conditions. 

Ophthalmologists are eye doctors who perform medical and surgical treatments for eye conditions, such as glaucoma, cataract surgery, laser surgery and more. They are licensed to practice medicine and surgery.

If you’re a Sharp Rees-Stealy patient and have already been fit for lenses by a Sharp Rees-Stealy doctor, you can access MySharpEyes Contact Lens Service.
