About Ravishankar Rao, MD

As a primary care physician and recreational athlete, I understand firsthand how challenging sports injuries — and the recovery process — can be, both physically and mentally. That’s why I completed additional fellowship training in sports medicine: to support patients through every step of their journey, from injury prevention and treatment to a safe return to activity. I recognize that injuries can affect more than mobility; they can also bring stress, worry and uncertainty. My goal is to care for the whole person by addressing both the physical and mental aspects of recovery, whether the injury impacts life on the field, at work or at home. I partner with each patient to understand their goals and create a personalized plan that helps them move forward with confidence, using the latest diagnostic tools and treatment options available in the San Diego region.
