Senior Resource Centers
Unlimited senior health resources at your fingertips.
Whether you're an older adult or caregiver, our Senior Resource Centers offer a multitude of information and resources to assist you with your health needs. Our centers provide free health education classes, health screenings, community-based flu shots and referrals to other health services and specialties.
At Sharp, we've built a community focused on health and wellness. Our Senior Resource Centers provide you the opportunity to connect with other like-minded individuals and learn the positive aspects of aging. All our activities are designed exclusively for older adults seeking to maintain good health.
Our senior life experts have gathered resources and information from multiple services across San Diego County. As a result, when you are in need of resources or information, rest assured that you can connect with one of our representatives who will provide custom solutions to your specific resource needs. Our senior life experts are deeply connected within the senior care industry and make it our job to know what is available to keep you healthy and informed.
Exercise and fitness
Maintaining an active lifestyle is important at any age. Our experienced exercise professionals will lead you in gentle exercise classes, from yoga to strength training, tai chi to walking. We also offer a Mall Walkers program available at the Grossmont Center Mall. Call 619-740-4214 for more details.
We offer health screenings related to diabetes, cardiac risk, lung function, blood pressure, medication management, stroke, osteoporosis and cancer.
Our health and wellness workshops and seminars cover a range of topics, including caregiving, fall prevention, brain health, arthritis and memory skills. The Senior Resource Center understands that we have the experts working with us here at Sharp and we bring the experts to you for our lectures.
Project CARE (Community Action to Reach the Elderly) is a free service offered to East County seniors through Sharp Grossmont Hospital and the Senior Resource Center. Through Project CARE, we offer daily phone calls to any older individual that would like that added layer of insurance.
During the week, responses are monitored by the Sharp Grossmont Hospital Senior Resource Center staff and volunteers, and on weekends by hospital security personnel. If a call goes unanswered, an individual you have previously designated will be contacted to check on you. To learn more, call us at 619-740-4214. For locations and services of Project CARE outside of East County, call 1-800-510-2020.
Vial of Life
The Vial of Life is a small container that can be placed on your refrigerator door and which holds important health-related information, such as your name, address and medication history. If paramedics arrive in an emergency, this information assists them in providing a fast, accurate medical response. Download the Vial of Life form (also available in Spanish) and keep it on your refrigerator. Keep extra copies in your car and your wallet, and bring it along when you visit your doctor.
To obtain a Vial of Life container, give us a call at 619-740-4214. Our team provides training to local EMS to ensure that they look for the Vial of Life when they are called, drastically improving their ability to provide the best care possible when you need it most.
We know how important it is to take care of yourself when you're also taking care of a loved one. That's why we offer a variety of caregiving resources to get you the help and support you need.
