In addition to a variety of cardiovascular treatments and procedures, we also offer the following: 

• Biplane cardiac catheterization lab  
  Used for complex neurological (stroke), cardiac and interventional radiology. Biplane imaging technology uses two fluoroscopy cameras to produce simultaneous images at different angles, giving physicians increased precision. 

• Electrophysiology cardiac catheterization lab 
  Used to treat abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmia), including atrial fibrillation. The room is equipped with three-dimensional mapping technology to detect irregular heart rhythms. 

• Cardiac catheterization labs 
  Used for standard diagnostic, interventional and electrophysiology heart procedures; catheter placement; coronary interventions; and acute myocardial infarctions (heart attacks). Physicians also perform peripheral vascular angiograms and pacemaker implantations here.  

• Hybrid operating room 
  Used for cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery and lung procedures. A hybrid operating room has added imaging that makes it possible for doctors to simultaneously diagnosis and treat the patient when surgery is needed. 

• Endovascular hybrid surgical suite 
  Used to perform transcarotid arterial revascularization procedures, and to treat vascular conditions such as abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins and other types of blockages.  

• Cardiothoracic surgery suite 
  Used to perform open-heart procedures, including cardiac bypass surgery, valve replacement, valve repair and lead extraction.

As the only hospital in San Diego with a dedicated women’s acute cardiac care unit located within a women’s-only hospital — Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Women & Newborns — our specialized team in the women’s acute cardiac care unit provides inpatient cardiovascular services designed for a woman’s unique physiology. When it comes to your recovery, rest assured that you will heal in a nurturing environment by nurses trained in women’s heart issues.

Along with caring for women's hearts while in the hospital, we also offer outpatient services. For instance, our Postpartum Heart Health Clinic located within the Sharp Grossmont Hospital Care Clinic helps women experiencing high blood pressure and other cardiovascular complications after pregnancy. The clinic's expert team provides education and counseling on nutrition, lifestyle changes, and how to monitor blood pressure at home.

Our heart failure program includes both inpatient care and treatment, as well as care after you leave the hospital at our Heart Failure Clinic. The clinic offers immediate, post-discharge care as a bridge to the follow-up care from your cardiologist or primary care physician. The Heart Failure Clinic is located in the Sharp Grossmont Hospital Care Clinic. 

Heart Failure Clinic services include physical exams and making sure medications are up-to-date. Patients living with heart failure can also take advantage of our heart failure support groups, which meet regularly to discuss various topics from exercising safely to following a heart-healthy diet.
