The Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Neuroscience is part of Sharp Grossmont Hospital, and is located in the former space of our Rehabilitation Center. The entrance to the new facility is adjacent to the main hospital entrance.
Representing the future of neurological care, the neuroscience hospital is a free-standing center located in the heart of the Sharp Grossmont campus. This new facility is dedicated to neurosurgical, neurological and comprehensive spine care that allows patients to be treated from start to finish in one place.
As more people in our community advance in age, there will be a greater need for specialized neurological care. The hospital not only helps meet that demand, but also serves as an extension of our growing medical services and expertise. In conjunction with our nationally recognized Comprehensive Stroke Center designation from the American Heart & Stroke Association, the Burr Heart and Vascular Center, and our new movement disorders program to treat conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, we’re advancing brain and spine health care for our region.
Sharp Grossmont partnered with celebrated firms in the design and building industry to bring the project to life. The facility was designed by Mascari Dinh Architects, an architecture firm that specializes in award-winning health care planning and design. The design build team was led by Layton Construction, a nationally ranked commercial construction company.
The Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Neuroscience opened in Spring 2025.
It includes the Linda and Frank Riolo Rehabilitation Gym, an inpatient rehabilitation unit, and a progressive care unit. There is also an intensive care unit, lobby, hardscaping, and landscaping. A second-floor outpatient clinic for movement disorders, neuro-ophthalmology and more is also a part of the new facility.
Built at a cost of $58 million, a significant amount of funding came from generous Grossmont Hospital Foundation donors, the Grossmont HealthCare District as well as other funding sources.
Our vision was to create a single center of excellence where patients will be treated by dedicated neurosurgical, neurological and comprehensive spine experts. With your donation, your support of Sharp Grossmont Hospital for Neuroscience will help us transform the future of neurological care for patients, their loved ones and the community.
