At Sharp, we are proud to offer advanced, personalized therapy for uterine cancer.

Choose the San Diego uterine cancer doctor who's right for you.
Uterine cancer — also known as endometrial cancer — is the most common type of gynecologic cancer. About 90% of cases occur when cancer cells begin to grow in the inner lining of the uterus, called the endometrium. Fortunately, uterine cancer is often diagnosed at an early stage when people see their doctors after experiencing unusual bleeding.
At Sharp, we specialize in offering advanced, personalized therapy for uterine cancer, close to home. Our comprehensive program provides a full range of leading-edge, minimally invasive treatments, including precise robotic-assisted surgery and targeted radiation. We also offer access to innovative clinical trials.
The Cancer Centers of Sharp HealthCare are nationally accredited by the U.S. Commission on Cancer. We also provide second opinion services for patients outside of Sharp, who have recently been diagnosed with uterine cancer. Sharp accepts almost all insurance plans.

Our skilled and compassionate care team offers leading-edge treatments for uterine cancer, as well as access to the latest clinical trials. Treatment may include:
Surgery — Uterine cancer is often treated with surgery. Patients will most likely have a hysterectomy to remove the uterus and cervix. Surgeons at Sharp are experts in performing robotic-assisted hysterectomies, a less invasive procedure than traditional hysterectomies, with a faster recovery time. A hysterectomy may also involve removing your ovaries and pelvic lymph nodes.
Chemotherapy and immunotherapy — Patients may receive medication through their veins (IV) or swallowed in a pill form to target cancer cells directly or harness the immune system to attack cancer cells.
Cold capping (scalp cooling) — This type of therapy may help minimize hair loss during chemotherapy treatment for eligible patients. It works by gently cooling the scalp before, during and after an infusion, helping protect hair follicles from the effects of chemotherapy.
Radiation therapy — We offer specialized radiation that precisely targets cancer cells while minimizing exposure in normal, healthy tissues. Radiation treatment may include external beam radiation, such as intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Women who have had their uterus and cervix removed by surgery may also have brachytherapy, a form of "internal” radiation that places a source of radiation within the upper part of the vagina.
Hormone therapy — Hormone therapy changes the levels or blocks the actions of certain hormones in your body that some tumors need to grow. Progestins are the main type of hormone therapy used to treat uterine cancer. These drugs act like the hormone progesterone and slow the growth of uterine cancer cells.
Clinical trials — Patients at Sharp have access to new therapies and treatments for ovarian cancer through our Clinical Trials Program.
