Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns
Doula Program at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns
The guidance you need, the care you expect.
Nothing can prepare you for the miracle of labor. But at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns, specially trained doulas offer guidance and support when you need it most.
A mother's advocate.
A doula is a teacher, a guide and a friend. And at Sharp Mary Birch, our doulas strive to be even more. While working in tandem with your clinical team, your doula will put her focus on you. Your doula will give massages, allay your fears and take an active role in every aspect of your baby's delivery. The end result? A more streamlined, memorable labor. And for many women, doula-supported labors require less medication and fewer epidurals.
But the care offered by our doulas isn't limited to the delivery room. She'll meet with you one-on-one prior to delivery, working through your birth plan and discussing your individual needs. And after delivery, she'll follow up to make sure you're armed with the knowledge you need to take your first steps into parenthood.
Experts in labor support.
Each of our doulas has received special training from DONA International — the oldest, largest and most respected doula association in the world. Plus, they've undergone an extensive interview process and background check, so you can be confident that the doula you choose is knowledgeable, professional and well-prepared.
Choosing a doula.
To get started, give us a call and meet the Sharp Mary Birch doulas. There is a $900 service fee that is billed directly to you, and is not typically covered by insurance. If a Sharp Mary Birch doula is not part of your birth plan, we welcome non-affiliated doulas to be a part of your labor and delivery. But know that doulas in our program are acquainted with hospital staff and procedures. It's one more reason why more women choose Sharp for their pregnancy needs.
