Sharp Chula Vista is the South Bay leader for providing excellence in stroke care and has received the prestigious achievement award of Gold Plus from the American Heart Association. As a certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, Sharp Chula Vista can treat all types of strokes quickly and effectively.
Nearly 100% of patients arriving to Sharp Chula Vista within four hours of noticing stroke symptoms were treated with the clot-busting medication used to treat ischemic stroke.
100% of our eligible patients arriving within 24 hours of experiencing a stroke were treated with our advanced technology of mechanical endovascular reperfusion therapy, which has been a major achievement in stroke care due to the extended window of treatment it provides.
Our goal at Sharp Chula Vista is to maximize recovery and minimize disability after a stroke, and over 90% of our patients have successfully been able to return home and/or receive ongoing therapy after their hospitalization.

As a Comprehensive Stroke Center — the highest designation given by The Joint Commission in association with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association — Sharp Grossmont treats on average more than 900 patients with stroke a year. Our patients are highly satisfied with the treatments and services they receive, based on a 97% satisfaction rate from an internal survey.
Nearly 100% of patients arriving at Sharp Grossmont within the first four hours of noticing stroke symptoms were able to receive medications to quickly dissolve clots that cause stroke.
Sharp Grossmont has one of the fastest door-to-medicine times — 12 minutes — for administering clot-dissolving medications to patients.
Our patients’ complication rate from clot-dissolving medications is 3%, which is below the national benchmark of 6.4%.

Sharp Memorial has proven outcomes associated with fast door to medicine times for administering clot-dissolving medications to patients experiencing a stroke.

Sharp accepts almost all health insurance plans, including Medicare, Medi-Cal and most managed care and private insurance plans.
