What type of treatment are you looking for?
Aquatic therapy
If you have a physical disability due to stroke, illness or accident, our rehabilitation center at Sharp Grossmont Hospital offers an aquatics program as a unique, low-impact form of physical therapy. With the aid of the water's buoyancy and resistance, you are taught specific exercises that strengthen your muscles, build endurance and improve your joint flexibility.
Balance and vestibular program
If you have difficulty with balance, equilibrium or dizziness, our balance and vestibular program provides rehabilitative therapy to help improve your symptoms and give you back a capable, productive life.
Brain injury rehabilitation
The first of its kind in San Diego County, our brain injury rehabilitation program is designed to provide you with a whole recovery —mind, body and spirit. Our experienced caregivers are dedicated to your comfort and wellness and are with you step-by-step as you heal.
Continence program
If you suffer from urinary or bowel incontinence due to a stroke, multiple sclerosis or a traumatic injury, our rehabilitation continence program will provide treatment for your individual needs. Through education and specialized therapy, we can help you regain a healthy, active lifestyle.
Environmental control unit lab
If you have limited use of your arms and shoulders, Sharp Memorial Rehabilitation Center offers unique assistive technology training that will allow you greater mobility and function in your home. With the help of trained staff, you have the opportunity to try out devices called environmental control units, which allow you to operate electronic devices — like televisions, computers, lights and appliances — even with mobility impairment. You can also test this assistive technology in your home before you purchase the equipment.
Hand rehabilitation therapy
Our hand therapy program helps you regain maximum use of your hands and other upper extremities following injury, surgery or the onset of disease.
Infant rehab services in the NICU
When premature infants are in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), our highly trained professionals use sophisticated procedures to treat these fragile newborns and provide support for their families. Integral members of that professional team include our occupational and physical therapists, who provide early therapeutic intervention to improve the physical development of each baby. Lymphedema therapy
In our lymphedema therapy program, our certified therapists teach you the skills necessary to manage your condition independently and help you get back to the activities you enjoy. Our comprehensive program treats lymphedema as well as several other conditions, including chronic venous insufficiency, fibromyalgia, arthritis and postoperative trauma or swelling caused by injury, infection, insect bites and radiation.
Pain management
A blend of medical, physical and behavioral rehabilitation, our pain management services offer a unique model of treatment focused on improving your quality of life when you've been impacted by chronic pain.
Pediatric rehabilitation
Sharp Rees-Stealy's pediatric rehabilitation services help children reach their maximum potential by using a team approach — the child, family and rehabilitation specialists work together toward a shared goal. We offer a variety of treatments for children, including speech and language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and audiology.
Pelvic program
We offer a specialized pelvic program designed to treat men and women with chronic pelvic pain, dysfunction and incontinence. We know how difficult it is to live with pelvic dysfunction, so our comprehensive treatment approach provides therapy and education to promote healing and self-management.
Recreation therapy
If you have physical challenges, our sports, recreation and wellness rehabilitation program is known for its unique emphasis on helping you integrate into your community via socialization, exercise and leisure activities. We have found this promotes long-term recovery and a healthy, fulfilling lifestyle.
Respiratory therapy
If you suffer from breathing difficulties, our pulmonary rehabilitation services can help you return to a productive, independent and satisfying lifestyle. Our program provides both inpatient and outpatient care — and you may enter and exit at any level of care, based on your personal needs and goals.
Spinal cord injury rehabilitation
If you have a spinal cord injury, we encourage you to focus on your abilities, not your disability. Our spinal cord injury rehabilitation services foster independence, strengthen self-esteem and offer unique opportunities, such as our quad rugby team and spinal cord injury fertility program.
Sports medicine and physical therapy
Across San Diego County, our rehabilitation centers provide physical, occupational and sports therapy to people of all ages. Our highly trained staff works closely with referring physicians to address your work-related, sports-related and other orthopedic injuries, including postsurgical conditions.
Stroke rehabilitation
After suffering a stroke, our acute stroke rehabilitation services will help you reach your highest level of independence and productivity. Our program uses a team approach that includes rehabilitation physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers and neuropsychologists who are dedicated to your recovery.
ThinkFirst Program
At ThinkFirst, specialized health care professionals and individuals who have undergone serious trauma (also known as VIPs, or voices for injury prevention) present an open and honest discussion about injury prevention. Our VIPs share real-life stories about how making a different and safer choice could have prevented the lifelong effects of traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury. To learn more, contact Shelly Atkinson at 858-939-4416 or at shelly.atkinson@sharp.com.
Voice, speech and swallowing therapy
Our speech pathology services provide care for hospital patients and community clients alike. Pairing in-depth voice training and swallowing therapy with new technology for evaluation and treatment, our program helps improve the sound, strength and comfort of your voice, as well as any difficulties with eating and swallowing safely.
